I am a feminist because I believe women should be allowed to choose to wear whatever they like.
(at least when no uniforms for work/school apply)
I see/hear so many messages in the media telling us to wear clothes that look slimming, or look modest, or show off our womanly form, or don’t look trashy, or don’t look too ageing, or don’t look too childish. You will feel fabulous if you dress this way, or you will be a real woman if you dress that other way. So many conflicting messages. It is exhausting!
Did you ever notice how in the kids/teens aisle of clothing stores everything is so much more colourful and varied, whereas the adult section tends to be more emphasized with black, dark or earthy colours? What is this message saying to us? That when we grow up, we have to become ninjas or camouflage ourselves, to blend into the background and not stand out? Bah I say- bah!
My message also aims to reach out towards guys who like to wear feminine clothing, but get bullied or laughed at for doing so; because looking feminine is still something that can’t be taken seriously today.
Can we all not just wear what we like, and carry on with life?
It’s my body. It doesn’t belong to anyone else. I should be able to adorn it however I wish- at least in my free time.
Did a group of mathematicians just sit around drawing lines before stumbling upon how some combination of the intersections could be used for multiplication?
I had to try this, and I am just sitting here awestruck. This is brilliant.
This is as mind-blowing as Misha’s shoe-tying lesson.
I will never understand how or why people come up with this stuff.

This is why Doctor Who fandom is fucking amazing.
I’m not even a part of the fandom, but this deserves a reblog because, um, WOW. WHOVIANS, YOU GUYS ARE SERIOUSLY LUCKY TO HAVE ALL THIS STUFF THAT POINTS TOWARDS YOUR STUFF POSSIBLY BEING REAL.
WHY THE FUCK HASN’T ANYBODY FOUND PROOF OF HUNTERS BEING REAL YET?!
yea but do we really want hunters to be real
I’m gonna casually leave this here…
Can everyone please reblog this in hopes of this shithead being caught. If his face goes viral there is a much better chance of him being arrested.
Because people are cruel.
Signal boost the fucking shit out of this, followers. I don’t care if you’re an RP blog or whatever, if someone sees this and has the indecency to ignore it,
Women invented all the core technologies that made civilization possible. This isn’t some feminist myth; it’s what modern anthropologists believe. Women are thought to have invented pottery, basketmaking, weaving, textiles, horticulture, and agriculture. That’s right: without women’s inventions, we wouldn’t be able to carry things or store things or tie things up or go fishing or hunt with nets or haft a blade or wear clothes or grow our food or live in permanent settlements. Suck on that.
Women have continued to be involved in the creation and advancement of civilization throughout history, whether you know it or not. Pick anything—a technology, a science, an art form, a school of thought—and start digging into the background. You’ll find women there, I guarantee, making critical contributions and often inventing the damn shit in the first place.
Women have made those contributions in spite of astonishing hurdles. Hurdles like not being allowed to go to school. Hurdles like not being allowed to work in an office with men, or join a professional society, or walk on the street, or own property. Example: look up Lise Meitner some time. When she was born in 1878 it was illegal in Austria for girls to attend school past the age of 13. Once the laws finally eased up and she could go to university, she wasn’t allowed to study with the men. Then she got a research post but wasn’t allowed to use the lab on account of girl cooties. Her whole life was like this, but she still managed to discover nuclear fucking fission. Then the Nobel committee gave the prize to her junior male colleague and ignored her existence completely.
Men in all patriarchal civilizations, including ours, have worked to downplay or deny women’s creative contributions. That’s because patriarchy is founded on the belief that women are breeding stock and men are the only people who can think. The easiest way for men to erase women’s contributions is to simply ignore that they happened. Because when you ignore something, it gets forgotten. People in the next generation don’t hear about it, and so they grow up thinking that no women have ever done anything. And then when women in their generation do stuff, they think ‘it’s a fluke, never happened before in the history of the world, ignore it.’ And so they ignore it, and it gets forgotten. And on and on and on. The New York Times article is a perfect illustration of this principle in action.
Finally, and this is important: even those women who weren’t inventors and intellectuals, even those women who really did spend all their lives doing stereotypical “women’s work”—they also built this world. The mundane labor of life is what makes everything else possible. Before you can have scientists and engineers and artists, you have to have a whole bunch of people (and it’s usually women) to hold down the basics: to grow and harvest and cook the food, to provide clothes and shelter, to fetch the firewood and the water, to nurture and nurse, to tend and teach. Every single scrap of civilized inventing and dreaming and thinking rides on top of that foundation. Never forget that.
This is my dog, Lily. My sister and I bought her, without my dads permission and brought her home as a puppy about a year ago. My dad hates her, but me & my 2 sisters love her to death. This dog helps me cope with my depression and shes always great company to my sisters and I. My dad describes her as “tolerable.” Today, after having this dog for over a year, my dad is saying she needs to go, while he is angry at us for bringing her home, she has become part of the family and we can’t get rid of her, it’s too painful. After begging my dad for a while, he was still stuck on getting rid of her. I mentioned tumblr as a final option, and surprisingly he agreed to it. If I can get 200,000 notes by the end of July, we can keep her. He thinks it’s impossible, but I have faith. I’ve seen tumblr do it before. Please guys help me, I love this dog more than myself. Please oh please :c
This is Jelly Bean.
Jelly Bean is an approximately 4 month old black and brown mottled calico kitten. She loves everyone she meets - rubs on your legs, purrs loudly, sleeps on your laps, loves to play with toys… but she almost met her death on July 4 when her former owner brought her to a vet clinic for an exam. She tested positive for FIV, which is a completely manageable condition that thousands of happy pet cats live with. If you’ve never heard of FIV, please check out one of three links below:
The point is, cats can live very good lives with this condition and it was no reason to kill this young life, so I took her in.
However, I cannot keep her indefinitely as I have a big dog - so she is cooped up in my bathroom. If you live in Chicago and are interested in bringing Jelly Bean into your home, please email me Nikilotyl@sbcglobal.net.
I urgently need to find her a loving forever home. She will come with all her supplies - litter box, remaining food and litter, plastic airline crate, toys. She has already had two vet exams and has the records to indicate what work she’s had done.
If you know anyone willing to adopt a kitten, please tell them about Jelly Bean or repost this.
